Silver Creek streets and residents' basements filled with water after heavy rains Saturday evening, but not from the usual source. Mayor Nick Piccolo reported the creeks did not overflow the banks to create the problem. "The storm sewers couldn't handle all the water. ... It came up through the manholes and storm sewer drops," he said. The fire department responded to pump flooded basements and the highway department picked up debris. Piccolo said once the rain had subsided, the situation was under control. He thanked the disaster team and the fire, streets and water departments for their response.
