Donald L. Crandall, age 80, of Prospect Street, Gowanda, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 10, 2014, at the Buffalo General Hospital surrounded by family.
Bud was born at home in the town of Concord on February 1, 1934, the son of Willis and Maude (Goodemote) Crandall. Donald honorably served his country with the United States Army.
He married the former Dorothy Macakanja at St. Stephens Serbian Orthodox Church in Lackawanna on January 10, 1970. Dorothy survives.

A retiree of National Fuel, Donald worked for the company for 41 years before retiring in February 1994. An active and devout member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Donald not only served on various committees and boards, he also was part of the church Vestry. His faith and family were a very important part of his life. Bud also belonged to the 50 plus Senior Group, enjoying trips and activities through the LK Painter Center in Collins.
Surviving besides his wife of 44 years are two children, daughter Janet Lancaster of Otto, NY and son Jason Crandall of Lakeland, FL. Grandchildren Kearsten Pipkins and Matthew Lancaster along with his sister Evelyn (late Joseph) Lightcap of Spring-ville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides his parents,Donald was preceded in death by a brother, Willis Crandall and two sisters,Norine (William) Lux and Helen (Joseph) Goodemote.
Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME, 44 Center St., Gowanda from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday. Donald's funeral will be held Friday, August 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. from the St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Center St., Gowanda. Rev. David Noves will officiate. Interment to follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Ham-burg, NY. Memorials may be made to the BG Hospice c/o Buffalo General Hospital, 100 High St., Buffalo, NY 14203 or to a local SPCA or Animal Shelter of one's choice.
