A lesson in charity

August 18, 2014
Observer Today

Tender Care Child Care of Fredonia held its 19th annual charity bake sale on Aug. 6. The proceeds from the event, $1,320, were split between the Lakeshore Humane Society and Natalie's Rainbow of Hope (which deals with childhood cancers). This is Tender Care Child Cares' 19th year conducting the bake sales. Teresa Bunge, owner of the child care facility, hopes this activity teaches the children about giving back and paying it forward, and that the lesson will stay with them always. The children run the bake sale for the most part, and are supported by daycare families and assistants, both past and present. Many local businesses and families make monetary donations. Bunge chooses a different charity each year to which to donate the proceeds. The group tries to increase its proceeds each year, and looks forward to a milestone - its 20th charity bake sale next year.
