Darren Oliver "Nuck" Moreland, 48, of Dunkirk passed away on Aug. 23, 2014 following a brief illness.
He was born on March 25, 1966 in Dunkirk, son of the late MaryAnn Moreland-Harris and Oliver Moreland.
Darren was a 1984 graduate of Dunkirk High School and also graduated from Erie Community Col-lege under the supervision of New York with an Associate's Degree in Occupational Studies. He received a certificate in Building Rehabilitation in May of 1993.
Most recently, he worked for the New York State Dormitory Authority for 20 years and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Darren is survived by three daughters, Shamiela, Ilysia and Zoe; six sisters, Cynthia, Charmaine, Rachel, all of Dunkirk, Stacy of Rochester, Camille of Liverpool and Shannon of Buffalo; one brother, Eric (Yasmin) of Dunkirk; 11 nephews, Jeremy, Jordan, Ryan, Justin, Parish, Jamari, Xavier, Isaiah, Jerick, Michael and Peyton; five nieces, Antwanay, Arianne, Raven, Savia, Evonnah; and a host of great-nephews, great-nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 29, at 1 p.m. in the Harvest Chapel Free Methodist Church. The Rev. E.G. Waller of Friendship Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Willowbrook Park Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 28, in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Following the funeral service, the family will receive friends at the Harvest Chapel Free Methodist Church, 39 Matteson St., Fredonia, NY 14063 (716-679-0987). In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that all donations be made to the American Heart Association or the Kidney Foundation.
