Doing this we can insure that Dunkirk will not keep operating in the red. And that the peoples voice will be heard. Member CommentshadenoughIsn't it the responsibility of the finance committee to oversee the proposed expenditures by the mayor? If not then what is the finance committees function? Just recently the mayor was overjoyed that the city employees can now clean dirt and build berms. Is this the act of a rational man? Why did the council go along with this expenditure? The machine is broken and needs fixing up why would someone spend city time and money fixing up a machine that will clean dirt? If you want a good laugh get a scanner and tune into the citys channel. The king is riding around looking for whatever and when finding it he calls the DPW director. Hello. The mayor is the DPW director. His man Tony is working the WWTP and water plant projects. And the mayor is taking over the daily tasks of DPW. The guy is a pill. Needs to resign. Posted 541 days ago. hadenoughI would like for the Observer to publish a copy of the mayor's proposed budget. This would let the people see where the tax and sewage increase are slated for. It would also show us what the common council did in the budget hearings. To much of these financial issues are done behind closed doors. Time to pen up and let us see. If the number of people speaking out on the peace pole would speak out on other issues, something would be done--unfortunately, there's a lot of apathy in Dunkirk and most people just let things happen. Spending all that money on flowers, trees, overtime. it is the duty of the council to ask the questions but they did not. Now, finally the people are questioning his decisions and again the council did not challenge the peace pole until the people voiced their concern. What is it with the council? Are they in the mayors corner? The houses in parts of the city are in deplorable condition yet nothing is done. The time is now. If we do not act then the city (meaning the taxpayer) will be further in debt. Posted 585 days ago. Post a Comment |
