Food Pantry

Forestville lost its Food Panty, who let this happen? So many of us walk-ins and senior citizens no longer can go five miles each way for help. Why when a perfectly good building less than 100 ft offered was refused. We need to keep this in our village!

or contact 965-2353,965-4306(Rev's Bruce or Patti Ellis). We are still committed to serving the Forestville area. When patrons come and all are welcome, they will still be greeted and served by many of the volunteers that served at the Forestville United Methodist Church. I know this is a little further to travel to recieve food, but I also know that most clients travel to Dunkirk or Fredonia or Silver Creek to purchase things need that the pantry does not supply. God is Good and continues to bless the efforts of His people and servants. Rev. Karen M Cleveland If there is an emergency please contact either of the numbers above and we will set up other arrangements

I'm writing in reguards to the comments written about the Neighbor to Neighbor Food Pantry of Forestville. The decision to move the food pantry was NOT made by just one person. This was a decision thought out, and prayed for by the Forestville Ministerial. I believe this has been a good decision. I am the director of the pantry. I have been told by patrons that have made the trip up the hill to recieve their food that this has been a good move. Since the pantry is larger the patrons are now able to choose the foods that they will use in their own kitchen instead receiving what we give them. This is called " Client Choice". We have also delivered to patrons that are unable to make the trip due to no transportation and will continue to help those that can not come to our facility because of lack of transportation or incase of inclimate weather. If their is anyone whom recieves food from the pantry and is unable to come get their food, they can call 257-6081 (pastor Karen) or 96

So.. the Forestville food pantry was moved to Villenova, making it difficult in good weather, and impossible in bad for many of the needy people of the village to receive much needed food. The parsonage at the Methodist church was offered but refused? Where does all the money raised by the children, teachers, and good people of Forestville, through donations and "make a difference day" go? How much money is there? Shouldn't the money and the pantry stay in the village it is supposed to be supporting? Who makes these backward decisions? Who is this "one person" that wields all this power to say whether a person has a right to eat or not? How many years have people gotten used to socializing and sharing a meal on Tuesday as they pick up their food for the week, to have it taken out of their lives? What about the knitters who make blankets, hats, and sadly, burial gowns for preemies, every Tuesday? Define "fair"?

The food pantry in Forestville was an essential service to our many elderly, disabled, and needy citizens. The relocating of the pantry to Villenova, was poorly thought out and vindictive. The Methodist church, which provided their hall for many years to be used for the pantry, simply needs the use of their hall. They offered the parsonage on the opposite side of the parking lot but for some reason were turned down. Many of our local seniors and needy, gathered at the pantry every tuesday, to pick up food and donated clothing, visit with others, and share a free, warm meal. Ask one of these people how they will get up the hill, 5 miles out of the village, especially in inclement weather for these simple needs that many of them fear will no longer be met.WHY?

this food pantry is for the people not for the person that wants to run it on his own. Barb and lorraine have put many hard hours in this food pantry and why take it out of the village for the sake of one person. who is suffering is the people that need the food pantry.
