Phil....the only way to merge is for the Village to merge into the Town. For the Town to dissolve into the Village they have to annex themselves into the Village. We know that will never happen. It's amazing that the Town is smaller, provides nothing to the Village that I know of or that anyone can list here and the Village can't just dissolve the Town but they cannot.

It's very unfortunate for Pomfert and Fredonia. Last time I read, the Village of Fredonia is in the town of Pomfert. Maybe the Village should be dissolved by Pomfert. I am sure that can happen.

If the Town wants the village to provide fire service, I'm afraid it has no choice other than accept the terms. If the Town rejects these terms w/o an alternative plan that provides near or equal coverage, then the blame falls squarely on the Town board.
Like it or not, it's a pretty simple decision to make and NOT complicated at all. What exactly does the Town board expect to gain by waiting until the last minute?

The deal should be "let's merge". What better example could there be of TOO MUCH GOVERNMENT.

Amazing how the Town thinks it has the upper hand. This is just another reason why the Town should be annexed into the Village. Tell the Town to take it or leave it. Village should set a final deciding date or go elsewhere.

Nothing like putting things off to the last second.
Fredonia really should tell the town, this is what we offer, if you don't like it make other arrangements for fire protection.
Going forward Fredonia should also set a drop dead date, for renewal, that is a few months before current contract expires.
