judeye sair "PR24601...Estimates are 9,900 people have been shot in the USA since Sandy Hook... Of those at least 194 have been children who were killed by guns.".......... of those 194 children how many where playing with daddys gun, how many were shot ba assault style gun, and how many of those kids were gang bangers ?And only NYS responds with this Safe Act,lol

Judge Judeye.. "killed by guns" is not a direct correlation to gun violence. Suicides are not gun violence.. if they didn't have a gun they'd hang themselves. Quite frankly I'm glad they used a gun - ensure success.
And accidents are not gun violence either. Many children killed by guns is the result of accidental shootings and general incompetence by the gun owners.. who cares.. thin the herd, the kids are destined to be incompetent doofs anyway.
And calling you an idiot wasn't an insult - I was making a factual statement.

Judeye, 60% of those gun deaths are suicides. The real blame for those can be placed on bad relationships, bad economic situations, and/or, ironically enough, antidepressants. That leaves 3300 deaths to contend with, not the number that HuffPo (and Slate and Salon) are trying to pass along as murders.
PR24601...Estimates are 9,900 people have been shot in the USA since Sandy Hook... Of those at least 194 have been children who were killed by guns.
Just google it for all the data sources.
Oh by the way..I wonder why is it that those on the right resort to name calling rather than discuss facts and express opinions?

DarkStar...what tax increases on the rich? Why do I as a senior with limited income pay a higher tax rate than the most wealthy in our Country?
Do you mean the great compromise made by those on the left for a public option rather than single payer health insurance? Yes, I see how much the right compromised on that one. Yet now they complain about ACA when the left never wanted that in the first place.
We all need to compromise. Anyone with a brain knows when money is tight..you do both..cut spending AND increase revenues. Why are so many so resistant to increasing revenues on those who can afford it the most? Oh by the way...have you seen the stock market lately...biggest gains in decades.

The problem with compromising with the left is that no matter what ground you give, they will accept and then push us for even more compromise.
A perfect example were Obama tax increases on the "rich" he and his leftist cronies said in effect "let us raise their taxes and we will cut spending." Then once the GOP members agreed and let his tax increases be put in place Obama turns around and claims his "spending cuts" will take the form of tax increases.
Then look what the left did to Bush the first for compromising with them on tax increases, which they then crucified him for.
So please explain to me why anyone should trust anything that comes from the left?

And yet Tombstone and Dodge City are legendary, in large part, for all the gun violence that took place there, despite these laws.
So even in the old West we have proof that gun laws only effect the law abiding citizens and that criminals have no issue with breaking another law.
Umberto, interesting factoid for you. Estimated 100 Million gun owners in the US. NRA members (published statistic) 5 Million. So 5 percent of American gun owners are driving the debate albeit funded by all the gun manufacturers. FIVE percent Umberto... Why are the rest not signing up for this bandwagon?

To Steiner et al, for your edification... As a resident of a neighboring town and frequent visitor to Tombstone, Arizona I can assure that Sheriff Wyatt Earp did indeed enforce the ban on guns within the city limits. This law carried into the 1980's. Perhaps a little research might be useful before shooting from the lip. Tombstone Ordinance No.9 (1881) "Section 1. It is hereby declared unlawful to carry in the hand or upon the person or otherwise any deadly weapon within the limits of said city of Tombstone, without first obtaining a permit in writing. FYI, Dodge City had even stricter gun ordinances.

DK, from a karmic perspective, the robber had every inch of that tow truck's bumper coming. Once the victim jumped into the tow truck, though, unless he was still being chased (which could be entirely possible), it becomes an offensive action. There is still a chance charges could be dropped, maybe?

Here's one for you - happened yesterday in DC:
Guy walks into a tow yard, pulls a gun and holds up two employees working on a car. One runs away, the other slips and is pistol-whipped twice. He then tosses his wallet one way and runs the other.
While the gun-wielding robber picks up the wallet, the victim jumps into his tow truck and runs over the perp.
Result: 1 dead perp and 1 tow-truck operator charged with 2nd degree murder.
Click 'agree' for self defense and poetic justice." Click 'disagree' for tow operator should be charged with murder.

I will never believe it is more gun violence, it is more reporting on guns use in crime. These mall and school shootings are drug induced. Young people are given anti-depressants and next thing we know they are shooting people at random down at the mall. I would hold the drug companies at fault long before the gun manufacturers. Frighten people enough and they will want more gun control right? Not.

Judyeye said "I am old enough to have lived through..JFK, MLK, Malcolm X, and Bobby." Question < how many of those had legal weapons and how many where with weapons that held more than 10 bullets ? Any pyscho can get a gun and use it to committ a crime.

Judeye- "Time for us all to try to identify the ones that we agree on, and then compromise to come up with other ways to try to reduce the gun violence in our Country that is killing far too many of our children". OK Judeye lets head out together to Chicago and do some compromising. I'll drive, you do the talking OK? Maybe we could take Al or Jesse with us instead of wearing the kevlar OK?
Judeye says-"Really you think it is good for folks to bring in their guns for a meal"? No Judeye, not a good idea, they might get gummed up and unable to function.

To be fair, Bobby Kennedy was likely his own undoing, and JFK should have been smart enough to warn him since it can be pointed out that organized crime helped JFK get elected only to have his brother try to snuff them out? Yeah, probably not a good idea, but I admire RFK for acknowledging org. crime is bad news.

Stupid question. Gun violence has been on a decline for the last 20 years, no matter what gun legislation is in place:
usnews dot nbcnews dot com/_news/2013/05/07/18108298-gun-violence-in-us-has-fallen-dramatically-over-past-20-years-justice-dept-report-finds?lite
However, the SAFE act has been ruled at least partially unconstitutional (magazine capacities), and will likely (hopefully) go under further disassembly, especially since it was written and passed by publicity-seeking crooks in the dead of night.

Judge Judeye.. you make it sound like it's an every evening occurrence, this needless slaughter of "the children" in our country. Fact is, the incidents are very few and far between, and in every instance there are pre-determining characteristics of the shooters that should have been recognized.
A lunatic who can't get his hands on the guns will make a bomb. A criminal with no gun will steal one, or acquire it on the black market. But sure, go ahead and tell us we can use pop-guns to defend ourselves when the bad guys are going to have MP-16's.
You're an idiot.

Umberto "Since gun violence drives liberals crazy"
Are you implying that conservatives are not just as concerned with gun violence?
This is something we should come together on, not take opposite sides. We all are concerned with gun violence in our Country. It is how we should address it that we might have disagreements....
Time for us all to try to identify the ones that we agree on, and then compromise to come up with other ways to try to reduce the gun violence in our Country that is killing far too many of our children.
I know my very far right conservative friends and family agree. We all want to reduce gun violence. Time we come together and find a reasonable solution.

I am old enough to have lived through..JFK, MLK, Malcolm X, and Bobby.
I cannot tell you the grief and fear this Country went through following each.
Something I pray I will never experience again.
