The Olympics have always been a target especially sine Munich in 1972. There was a bomb that exploded in Atlanta during the Olympics. Why just two years ago Mitt Romney took a lot of heat because he said the security in London wasn't where it should be right before the Olympics.
One thing you do have to know that if there is an attack, those Russians will go after the attackers with a vengeance.

Man-eating, not mandating. Apple, get your spell checker app team some training, will you?
Terrorism doesn't have an "own backyard". It's pretty much everywhere, under many different forms. Be it American nutjobs blowing up IRS buildings, to buses in England, to nerve gas in subways in Japan. The Southern Hemisphere seems to be a little more immune to attacks, but then again, when your countries are already chock full of poisonous and mandating creatures, they have enough to worry about already.

Tackling somone waving the rainbow flag is NOT terrorism. Waving the flag might be breaking Russian law, whether people elsewhere in the world like it or not. Protesting is ok, but repercussions in Russia are going to be different than many, many other places. Protestors will have to be aware of that.
I don't know if they will be successful but I think they have plans and I think there will be disruptions.

Security concerns were the 1st thing I thought of when the Russian venue was first announced. This event is simply too big for regional terrorists to pass up on, it's in their own backyards! I'd think they're pretty much honor bound to make a statement and they've had plenty of time to plan their strategies. If the object is to disrupt the games they don't have to bomb the Olympic village; the news of monstrously evil attacks elsewhere in Russia would likely paralyze activity at the Olympic venues; most certainly media focus will be detoured from the games. Message delivered.

We can't even look forward to the Olympics. Do we have to worry about every event now? Is there anything good left in life? Yeah, it is already planted in the ground and it is going to be sad.
It already has started.
I just watched a video of a young Russian boy being tackled to the ground by the police there....for waving a Rainbow flag.
I call that terrorism.

well if there is.... the Russians can blame it on the same Benghazi Muhammad video excuse that Obama used.(worked for MSNBC & CNN) Then Hillary can say "what difference does it make that people died"?

This is not the best question they could have asked. Quit focusing on the bad stuff and try on the positive side of the Olympics. I hope nothing happens, but if it does, I think the Russians will be able to lay the smack down and not give a single s**t what the media says about how it does it.

I'm certain there will be an attempt, however, I am not as certain as Phil that it will not happen within Sochi itself. While the so-called "Ring of Steel" is in place, it was just set up over the past couple of months. Terrorists have proven that they will put cells in place sometimes years in advance, so the reality is, they could have people already inside the "ring" and waiting.
No, because steiner won't be able to get a visa. :-)

I think there is a strong probability of an attack but it won't happen in Sochi because the area is too heabily guarded. If it happens it will be in an outlying area where there is less security. As for the gay issue, I don't see where America has a right to impose it's screwed up value system on any other country. Russia should be free to decide what is good or bad, right or wrong for Russia and it has nothing to do with international sports competition.
