One more time and then we'll leave alfafa to his/her uninformed statements. Since I underwent basic training in 1962 using the M1 Garand and since I fully remember the range NCO saying-"lock" and "load" I suppose I should admit I'm wrong? Before loading the ammunition clip into the rifle, the operating rod handle is pulled to the rear until the bolt is securely "locked" open.(FM 23-5) According to FM 23-5,loading the clip without first "locking" the bolt could result in an accidental discharge of a round. In the 1943 training film (Rifle Marksmanship with M1 Rifle) the instructor orders first "Lock" then "Load"! Refer to Army FM 23-5 which you can download in PDF form from the USA Military Historical Institute which is located at Carlisle Barracks,PA,home of the US Army War College. Here is even more help alfalfa, page 32 of FM 23-5. Sure hope I wont be accused of bullying you by posting facts!

When you "lock" a magazine into a weapon and then "load" a round into the chamber it is what it is. Besides that John Wayne used that term in the film Sands of Iwo Jima and that alone makes it correct. SOOO according to Joew those Marines had NO magazines in their weapon until the battle started lol. (m1 garande used a clip ) My apologies for acting like steiner but joew can't admit when he's wrong. Suprise !

The phrase "Lock and load" did not exist until 1949, when Marion Morrison (better known as John Wayne) had immortalized it in the movie "Sands of Iwo Jima." The "Duke" was supposed to say, "Load and lock" but erred and said, "Lock and load, boy, lock and load."

To "Load and lock" refers to the operation of the M1 Garand Rifle, a standard WWII army rifle, where one would load a single round into the Garand, and then strike the bolt handle with the heel of the hand thereby forcing a round into the chamber and ensuring that it was fully closed and locked into place.

Hmm, why does bullying become a political format in here? I thought bullying applies to people who get in another person's face about their OWN issues. Usually, we hate in other people what we can't stand about ourselves..at least..that seems to be one of the rules. Isn't it just easier to pity the person who bullies out of ignorance? People who would TRY to get into my face are usually doing it because they KNOW in their hearts they are the ones who are wrong. I ignore them..consider the source. Never been bullied online though..have to admit that.

hey libs, read the steve jobs book, see how jobs insulted his friends and workers, but they made a lot of money.in my petrochem carreer i have seen a whole lot of name calling, i have done it myself and even parodied other workers and bosses like steve jobs did.it is fun ! the libs would make that illegal like in europe, where it is very difficult to fire people, you know, to end corporate greed and save the planet ! is that bullying ? no its the way the world works till the gals get involved and mess it up for diversity !

to be "bullied" online, one would have to feel threated by the words of others we aren't, why you ask, answer is simple, we refer to the age old line "mind over matter", we don't mind and the verbal attacks don't matter, actually some of the "third grade" comments and rants would be funny, if they weren't so pathetic, oh wait are we be a bully with our observation, oh heaven forbid that should happen, as a famous President once said "if you can't take the heat" maybe some commenters should heed that advice

Let me be clear. I have no problem with those using fictitious names because I know they have family and employer considerations. My objection is with those who use this space for insults and sarcasm while hiding behind a false identity. Everyone has a right to an opinion and I enjoy reading all of them and I don't mind those who disagree with me.

Bullying is usually aimed at someone who has no idea how to respond. The bully is usually someone who if confronted will back off before they get hurt or they will be stupid enough to think they wont!

****! I'm frankly amazed at how the majority on these pages gets so up in arms over those who disagree on ANYTHING! Anyone who disagrees with any of you is a Bully now!? That's frankly amazing. If anything, we're Freedom Fighters. We fight those in power, so to speak, those in the CLEAR majority, to ensure that other points of view are heard. The rest of you would like it if you could get on these pages and pat each other on the back, hear only one point of view, and life would be good. You refuse to see hat all those "other types" often disagree with each other. I rarely agree with Judeye, and Captain and I don't always agree either. But in the minds of the majority here, you're either all the way in, or all the way out. You go ahead, make your case, but numbers don't lie.

Since the so-called "Bully independents" are a HUGE minority on these pages, and ganging up on people with superior numbers is a CLEAR definition of bullying, to say otherwise shows complete ignorance of what the words bully or bullying mean.
