Sabres to host third annual Prospects Challenge
BUFFALO — The Buffalo Sabres announced Thursday the team will again host the Prospects Challenge from September 8 to 11 at HarborCenter.
The Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils will be joined by the Pittsburgh Penguins to compete with the Sabres in the round-robin challenge featuring prospects from each team. The participating teams will each play three games during the course of the event, which will be held entirely at HarborCenter.
Tickets for the games are $10 and will go on sale on Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased in person at the KeyBank Center Box Office, by phone at 1-888-223-6000 or online at Sabres.com.
A full game schedule for the Prospects Challenge is as follows: Friday, Sept. 8, Pittsburgh faces Boston at 3:30 p.m. and Buffalo will face New Jersey at 7 p.m.
On Sept. 9, New Jersey will take on Pittsburgh at 3:30 p.m. and Buffalo will challenge Boston at 7.
Monday, the 10th, will be the final day of the challenge as Boston faces New Jersey at noon and Buffalo competes against Pittsburgh at 7 p.m.
2017 Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament
The 2017 tournament is set for Saturday, Sept. 9, at Hillview/Vineyards golf courses in Fredonia. There will be prizes and/or games at each hole.
The registration fee of $65 per golfer includes food on the courses and dinner at the Kosciuszko Club.
Times for GTMGT being with registration at 9 a.m., shotgun start at 10 a.m. and dinner and awards at 4 p.m.
The deadline to sign up foursomes is Friday, Sept. 1. Contact Katie or Pat at 366-1044.
Money raised from the past tournaments have been used to establish an annual Gary Tripp colorectal cancer research fund at Roswell Park, an annual GTMGT Dunkirk High School scholarship and an annual donation to the GTMGT SUNY Fredonia scholarship

Wolfe and Calph each shot one-over 37 to lead the front nine while Wolfe’s 38 led the back nine. In the B Flight, Gary Haase was the winner after a tiebreaker with Lenny Leszkowicz, Ken Kaus, and Ed Tofil. The C Flight winner was Tony Destro. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Dan Kaszuba.
