Wednesday Ladies — (Aug. 16) Low scores: Michelle Helmer 43, Jodi Hoffman 47, DeeDee DuBois 49, Connie Minnich 50, Kay Pagano 51 and Debbie Ulrich 51. There was a tie for low team net between Cam Lawton/Gayle McKinney and Linnea Nichols/Barb Swan with 28. Skins went to DuBois (par, No. 1), Sue Grace (birdie, No. 2), Pagano (par, No. 8), and Helmer (par, No. 9). Nichols was closest to the pin on No. 6, Minnich won the card game and Donna Frost won the 50/50. Personal season best recognition went to Debbie Ulrich and Barb Swan for each shooting individual net 4 under par. The end-of-the-year banquet will be held on Sept. 6. Lucky Lanes junior meeting on Tuesday

Lucky Lanes junior bowlers will hold an organizational meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Lucky Lanes. The agenda will consist of discussion on league rules, season schedule, registration, USBC news, coaching classes, tournaments, scholarships and any new topics.

Gowanda co-ed youth soccer begins Sept. 3

A fall co-ed youth soccer program will be held at the new Gateway Park on Palmer Street in the Village of Gowanda every Sunday beginning Sept. 3 through the middle of Oct. from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This program is free to all children ages 5 through 14 regardless of residency. Previous soccer experience is not needed to join this program.

A football skills competition will be held at Gateway Park on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. Children ages 8 through 13 can compete for awards. A pizza party will follow for all participants. Fredonia Hockey Camp starts next week

For boys and girls from 5-12 years of age, takes place Aug. 21-24, Monday through Thursday from 10-11:15 a.m. at Steele Hall Ice Arena. Also Fredonia Hockey small ice games and training camp for boys and girls 13-18 years of age takes place Monday, Aug. 21 through Wednesday, Aug. 23, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Steele Hall Ice Arena. Registration being accepted for Hammerheads

Hammerhead Swim Club, a member of USA Swimming, is holding an in-person registration for the 2017-18 season on Tuesday, Aug. 22 and Tuesday, Aug. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fredonia State Natatorium. Registration can be made by cash, check or credit card. Participants may also register by mail or can visit the web site at and download forms. Those can be mailed to: HHSC, PO Box 541, Fredonia, NY 14063. The first day of practice will be on Sept. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Annual one-pitch softball tournament

The Annual Westfield One-Pitch Slow Pitch Softball Tournament will be held Aug. 26 in Westfield. Entry fees must be in by Aug. 24.

This is a one-pitch slow pitch format with each batter starting with a 3-2 count. The entry fee is $250 per team. A payout based on 16 teams is $750 for 1st, $375 for 2nd and $250 for 3rd.

Sunset Bay Experience – Reach the Beach 5K Run is today

The Sunset Bay Experience — Reach the Beach 5K Run will be held today at Sunset Bay, Iola Drive, Irving. Registration is at 8:30 a.m., with a 5K run and walk starting at 9:30 a.m. The entry fee is $25 the day of the race, $20 for pre-registration, or $10 student rate. Other attractions include craft booths, vendors, a basket raffle, wagon of cheer raffle, 50/50, a live band, food and drink specials at Cabana Sam’s. All proceeds benefit the Sunset Bay Volunteer Fire Company.

2017 Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament

The 2017 tournament is set for Saturday, Sept. 9, at Hillview/Vineyards golf courses in Fredonia. There will be prizes and/or games at each hole.

The registration fee of $65 per golfer includes food on the courses and dinner at the Kosciuszko Club.

Times for GTMGT being with registration at 9 a.m., shotgun start at 10 a.m. and dinner and awards at 4 p.m.

Money raised from the past tournaments have been used to establish an annual Gary Tripp colorectal cancer research fund at Roswell Park, an annual GTMGT Dunkirk High School scholarship and an annual donation to the GTMGT SUNY Fredonia scholarship.

4th Annual MYA Co-ed Softball Tournament

The 4th Annual MYA Co-ed Softball tournament will be on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Wright Park in Dunkirk. The entree fee is $200 and a deposit of $100 is required by Aug. 20 to secure a spot. It is a double-elimination tournament, with ASA approved bats. The tournament has a 2-to-1 count and a seven home-run limit per game. There is an 8-to-2 co-ed format and a one-hour time limit per game. There is a cash payout: $700 for first place, $400 for second place and $100 third place. The tournament is taking only the first 10 teams! Also, there will be a home run derby at 3 p.m. the day of the tournament where one player from each team can participate for free. The cash prize is $50 for the winner. Other events include: bounce house, a water balloon war at 2 p.m. and face painting from 3-4 p.m. all sponsored by Shults Resale Center.
