Fredonia to host boys high school Futsal tournament

The Fredonia Blue Devils will host a Futsal tournament on Sunday, March 12 at Steele Hall.

The game is played on a 70×55-yard fieldhouse surface and consists of six players per side, including a goalie.

A minimum top two teams in each division will make the playoffs with three games guaranteed for each team.

The games are 20 minutes long.

First-place winners receive a Dry-Fit T-shirt. There will also be an All-Tournament team.

Players must be currently in high school.

Dunkirk baseball

seeks donations

The Dunkirk varsity baseball team is once again traveling to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to participate in the Mingo Bay High School Baseball Tournament from April 7-15.

The tournament allows the players to play against teams from several states along the East Coast in preparation for the season.

The friends of Dunkirk baseball are asking for support from the community in the form of a monetary donation which will be used to help defray the cost of any and all expenses incurred while in South Carolina. As a contributor/sponsor, the organization’s name will appear on the 2017 Sponsor Board which will hang on the visitor’s side dugout at Al Stuhlmiller Field during the season.

Levels of contributions are as follows:

Friends of Dunkirk Baseball, $50; Base Hit Club, $100; Doubles Club $250; Triples Club, $500; Home Run Club, $750; and Grand Slam Club $1,000.

Any and all donations are appreciated. It is asked that checks are payable to Dunkirk Baseball and mailed to Frank Jagoda, Dunkirk Middle School, 525 Eagle St., Dunkirk, N.Y. 14048.
