Sheriff’s to Play Charity

Sled Hockey Game

On March 18, at 6 p.m., the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting their 11th annual fundraiser for the Jamestown Lakers Disabled Sled Hockey Team.

Members of the sheriff’s office will play in an exhibition sled hockey game against the still undefeated Laker’s team. This year’s event is being held during part of “The Special Hockey Extravaganza Tournament “ at the Northwest Savings Bank Ice Arena.

There will be players from the USA Hockey team taking part in the game, and signing autographs. These players are both gold, and silver medal winners at the World Nationals and Olympics.

100 percent of the proceeds from this event will go toward supporting the Lakers’ sled hockey program. The Lakers’ operate exclusively from fundraisers and private donations. There are no cost to the families of these disabled athletes, as it provides an opportunity for everyone one to play.

There is no cost to come to the event. There will be a Chinese auction and a 50/50 drawing. We are asking the public for help with either a donation, or an item for our auction. Pick up can be made available.

Anyone willing to help these disabled kids is asked to contact either Lakers’ head coach Rod Kolstee at 708-8727, or Deputy Hover at 499-7697. Tickets for the Chinese auction will go on sale March 17 and March 18. Participants do not have to be present to win.
