FHS Baseball Clinic

The Fredonia High School Baseball program will be hosting two clinics highlighting fundamental skills on Saturday, March 25 at Fredonia High School. This is a great way to kick off the baseball season.

The first session will run from 8 until 11 a.m. is for children ages 5 through 8. The second session is for children age 9 through 12 and will be held from noon until 3 p.m.

Instruction will be provided by Fredonia High School players and coaches and will include hitting, throwing, infield and outfield defense, pitching and base running. Catching instruction will also be available. The clinic will be held indoors and will utilize three gyms, a batting cage and indoor pitching mounds. Participants are asked to wear sneakers and bring their own glove.

The cost of the clinic is $20. Each additional child, from the same family will receive a $5 discount. All participants will receive a T-shirt. Walk-ins are welcome.

Westfield Baseball

Spaghetti Dinner

The Westfield varsity baseball parents are hosting a spaghetti dinner Sunday, March 12 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Westfield Moose.

Proceeds will help the team with their upcoming Mingo Bay Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Tickets are $8 and $10 tickets are available at the door.

Forestville Softball Signups

Signups for Forestville youth softball will be held Tuesday, March 14, from 5-8 p.m. in the Elementary School cafeteria. Girls ages 6-16 may sign up. They are asked to bring a copy of their birth certificate. The cost is $50 per child with discount for families with multiple children.

Cattaraugus County Sports Banquet Set for April 8

The 15th Annual Cattaraugus County Sports Hall of Fame banquet is set for Saturday, April 8 at the Little Valley Legion beginning at 6 p.m.

Twelve new members will be enshrined that evening during the awards ceremony.

This year’s class, as always, was selected based on their longevity, dedication and success in sports.

The new inductees include: Fred Caya, (Portville), Robert Jimerson, Sr. (Gowanda), D.J. Whitmore, (Salamanca), Barbara Duggan (Cattaraugus-Little Valley), Dick Edmunds, (Pioneer), Chad Lyter, (Allegany-Limestone), Bruno DeGiglio, (Olean), Susan Horton, (Ellicottville), Royce Ross, (Franklinville), Mike Williams, (West Valley) and Wayne Marsh, (Cattaraugus-Little Valley). Tommy “The Ironman” Irons (Olean) will be inducted posthumously.

Family and friends of this year’s inductees are encouraged to attend the event.

Dunkirk Baseball Comedy Night

Nick Siracuse and friends will put on a comedy show tonight at the Dunkirk Moose Lodge.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the show slated to start at 7 p.m.

A cash bar and menu will be available, along with a Chinese auction and 50/50.

Donations are gladly accepted. Tickets are available at The Moose Lodge, Matt’s News and any varsity parent. Tickets are also available through varsity coach Frank Jagoda, by calling 785-4313.

The fundraiser is being used to help defray the cost of the Myrtle Beach Spring Baseball trip.
