Art Asquith Senior Golf Tour registration
Registration for the Art Asquith Senior Golf Tour will be held at the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club on Tuesday, April 18 at 11 am. Registration for golfers 60 years old and older will be $20 with coffee and donuts available. The Art Asquith Senior Golf Tour has 23 matches scheduled for this year at courses around the Western New York and Western Pennsylvania area. The cost of golf, cart and light lunch is $23 and the tour has 6 flights with small prizes awarded weekly. For more information please see our website at www.sgolftour.com.
The Art Asquith Senior Tour is participating again in the “Bunkers in Baghdad” program which provides used golf equipment and golf balls to our troops. Please bring any items you wish to donate to registration.
Hurricane to host final home game tonight
The Chautauqua Hurricane of the Premier Basketball League will host the Kentucky Maverick in their regular season finale tonight at 7 p.m. at Brocton Central School.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are $5, and will be sold at the door.
FHS Baseball Clinic
The Fredonia High School Baseball program will be hosting two clinics highlighting fundamental skills on Saturday, March 25 at Fredonia High School. This is a great way to kick off the baseball season.
The first session will run from 8 until 11 a.m. and is for children ages 5 through 8. The second session is for children age 9 through 12 and will be held from noon until 3 p.m.
Instruction will be provided by Fredonia High School players and coaches and will include hitting, throwing, infield and outfield defense, pitching and base running. Catching instruction will also be available. The clinic will be held indoors and will utilize three gyms, a batting cage and indoor pitching mounds. Participants are asked to wear sneakers and bring their own glove.
The cost of the clinic is $20. Each additional child from the same family will receive a $5 discount. All participants will receive a T-shirt. Walk-ins are welcome.

Cattaraugus County Sports Banquet Set for April 8
The 15th Annual Cattaraugus County Sports Hall of Fame banquet is set for Saturday, April 8 at the Little Valley Legion beginning at 6 p.m.
Twelve new members will be enshrined that evening during the awards ceremony.
This year’s class, as always, was selected based on their longevity, dedication and success in sports.
The new inductees include: Fred Caya, (Portville), Robert Jimerson, Sr. (Gowanda), D.J. Whitmore, (Salamanca), Barbara Duggan (Cattaraugus-Little Valley), Dick Edmunds, (Pioneer), Chad Lyter, (Allegany-Limestone), Bruno DeGiglio, (Olean), Susan Horton, (Ellicottville), Royce Ross, (Franklinville), Mike Williams, (West Valley) and Wayne Marsh, (Cattaraugus-Little Valley). Tommy “The Ironman” Irons (Olean) will be inducted posthumously.
Family and friends of this year’s inductees are encouraged to attend the event.

Brocton/Portland 13-15-Year Old Babe Ruth Tryouts
The Brocton/Portland Babe Ruth League will hold tryouts for its 13-15-year-old division on Saturday, March 25 from 2 until 4 p.m. at the Brocton High School gym, rain or shine.
Players should bring a glove, gym shoes and a copy of their birth certificate.
