28th annual George Bataitis Open Golf Tournament

The 28th annual George Bataitis Open Golf Tournament will be held at Chautauqua Golf Club on May 13. Jamestown Macadam, Inc. is the major sponsor for the tournament, a fundraiser for Jamestown Community College athletics scholarships.

The four-player scramble format tournament will award prizes in scratch and handicap in the men’s and women’s divisions as well as closest to the pin, men’s longest drive, women’s straightest drive, team skins, and hit the green contests. The $90 entry fee includes greens fees, golf cart, gift pack, course refreshments and lunch. The entry fee is $70 for Chautauqua Golf Club members.

Tournament proceeds will benefit JCC’s George Bataitis Athletic Fund which provides scholarships for male and female athletes attending JCC and support for the college’s physical education program.

Bataitis joined JCC’s physical education faculty in 1956. During his tenure, he served as chair of the physical education department, director of athletes, and acting dean of students. He died in October 2014.
