Open registration for ‘Learn to Play Hockey’

The NCCYHA Steelers’ “Learn To Play Hockey” program will be offering an open registration and practice on Saturday, Sept.16th at SUNY Fredonia’s Steele Hall from 11 to 11:30 a.m.

All ice times will run for 60 minutes. There are nine sessions remaining. Parents/guardians should plan to stay at the rink for each session.

NCCYHA on-ice coaches are volunteers – coaches will work with groups of children and provide individual attention as they are able. Helmets and skates must be worn for every session. Some equipment packages will be available but are not guaranteed.

Dunkirk Sports Boosters to meet

There will be a meeting of the Dunkirk Sports Boosters this Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the concession stand at the high school. All parents, coaches and interested parties may attend.

Hurricane plan tryouts for upcoming season

The Chautauqua Hurricane semipro basketball team is holding tryouts for the 2017-18 season.

The tryouts are set for 9 a.m. Oct. 21 at the Dunkirk Salvation Army, 704 Central Avenue. Register by emailing chautauquahurricane@yahoo.com or in person at the Salvation Army every Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. There is a non-refundable fee of $40 for early registers, with the cost $50 at the door on the day of the tryouts.

Basketball official classes planned

Anyone interested in becoming a basketball official should contact Roger MacTavish at 664-6339. Classes begin this Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Jamestown High School at 7 p.m.
