Wednesday Travel League — Joe Michalski earned his third tour victory of the season after posting the low round of 80 at Union City Country Club in Union City, Pennsylvania. Ed Tofil was second with 83 and Butch Mackowiak was third with 84. Al Etzel shot the low front nine score of 39 while Michalski, Dave Herman, and Ron Szach all shot the low back nine score of 40. In the B Flight, John Bongiovanni was the winner after a tiebreaker with Pete Gawron and Dave Wallace. In the C Flight, Frank Benamati was the winner after a tiebreaker with Don Kujawa and Dennis Gawronski Sr. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Dan Kaszuba. United birdies were recorded by, A Flight: Tofil (Nos. 1, 13), Danny Kubera (No. 4), Tom Destro (No. 5), Herman (No. 10), Michalski (No. 16) and Szach (Nos. 17, 18). B Flight: Bongiovanni (No. 12) and Gawron (No.16). C Flight: Kujawa (Nos. 2, 11), Gawronski (Nos. 4, 7), Jack Griswold (No. 12), Lee Titus (No. 15), Joe Bifaro (No. 17) and Lenny Leszkowicz (No. 18). Closest to the pin were Kubera (No. 4), Mackowiak (No. 8), Griswold (No. 12) and Michalski (No. 14). Top point winners were Kubera (47), Michalski (26), Griswold (22) and Szach (20). With his 20 points this week, Ron Szach moved past Dick Maggio into tenth place on the All-Time Points List. Wednesday Ladies League (Aug. 30) — Low scores: Michelle Helmer 45, Connie Minnich 46, Donna Frost 47, Nancy Phillips 48, Judy Mowery 49 and Janice Wintersteen 49. The team of Frost/Helmer scored the low team net with 24. Skins went to Melissa Kelly for a par on No. 1; DeeDee DuBois for a par on No. 3; Sue Grace for a par on No. 8, and to Minnich for an eagle on No. 9. Frost was closest to the pin on No. 6; Wintersteen won the card game, and Grace won the 50/50. Personal season best recognition went to Donna Frost (individual net 8-under par).
