Cassadaga Country Club
A dinner banquet and scramble event held on Sept. 6 at the Club was organized by Linnea Nichols and Lori Cook. Seventeen teams were recognized in the Diamond, Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire flights. Overall season winners were the team of Janice Wintersteen and Debbie Ulrich. Second place went to Michelle Helmer and Donna Frost, with Kay Pagano and Pam Ulrich coming in third. Prizes for ringer board were awarded to Helmer, Linnea Nichols, Pagano, Deb Ulrich, DeeDee DuBois, Sue Grace, Jodi Hoffman, Connie Minnich and Linda Roos. Improvement Awards went to Hoffman, Jeanne Stewart, Cam Lawton and Barb Swan. Notable achievements: Season low score, Helmer (39); only eagle, Minnich; most birdies, Pagano and Wintersteen; most chip-ins, Pagano, Nancy Snyder and Nichols; most pars, Nichols, Helmer and Pagano; and perfect attendance, Pagano, Pat Gens, Nichols, Grace and Debbie McCown. The most subbing subs were Lisa Cieslewicz, Terry Blizzard, Judy Waterman and Judy Mowery. Gifts of appreciation were presented to Co-Presidents, Kim Murphy and Dory Johnson; Secretary, Mary Haight; Treasurer, Kay Pagano; and scorekeeper, Sue Grace. Golf-themed favors and table decorations were crafted by Lori Cook. Linnea Nichols roasted members of the league with gifts of appreciation and Groucho Marx lookalikes made a surprise appearance expressing interest in joining the league next year. The league wishes to thank the staff of the Cassadaga Country Club and the Wintersteen family for a delicious dinner and for their service to the local golfers throughout the season. A fun time was had by all. In a short business meeting officers were elected for the 2017 season as follows: Co-Presidents, Lori Cook and Mary Kelley; Treasurer, Kay Pagano; Secretary, Linnea Nichols; and scorekeeper, Sue Grace. Helmer, Frost, Hoffman and Kelly will oversee the weekly skins, closest-to-the-pin challenge and card game to benefit Roswell Cancer Institute. The 2018 season will kick off on April 25 with a scramble and league meeting.
Hillview Golf Course
The Girls4 Golf (Sept. 12) — Low gross was won by Judith Waterman with a 48 followed by Donna Frost with a 51 and Debbie Yerico with a 53. Low net went to Judith Waterman with a 41, followed by Mia Bamonto Putnam with a 42 and Donna Frost and Debbie Yerico each with a 44. Prizes for the evening were won by Karen Tramuta for having 19 putts and Sally Giambrone for having the most 7’s. The Girls4 Golf end of year banquet will be held on Sept. 19 at The Stockton Hotel beginning at 5:15 p.m. with dinner and awards.
