Team Nowicki opened its season with a dominant performance against the Buffalo Bisons. David Girdlestone, Braiden Truby and Joseph Worczak each scored twice for the Steelers. Collin Pergrim had 2 assists and Brody Himelein, Alex Madurski and Connor Nowicki each added one helper. Wilson Szydlo earned his first win in net with a strong performance.

Athletic injury prevention workshop Saturday

The issue of concussion is an important topic on and off the field. To help reduce the rate of concussion and other athletic injuries in our community, Brooks Memorial Hospital Sports Medicine and Lakeshore Orthopedic Group will host an athletic injury prevention workshop for high school and middle school student athletes, coaches, parent volunteers, and school district athletic staff.

This FREE community event, sponsored in part by the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Dunkirk High School, 320 Marauder Drive, Dunkirk.

Interested participants may register online or forms may be downloaded at www.brookshospital.org/community-health/upcoming-eventsclasses. All students must be accompanied by a parent, coach or other responsible adult and a signed parental consent must accompany registration materials for minors. Athletes will participate in drills and should wear appropriate workout attire and footwear. A healthy breakfast will be provided to help start the day off right.

Bear Lake Rod & Gun Club sets meeting, seeks payment of late dues

Dear Members of the Bear Lake Rod & Gun Club,

If you have paid your dues for 2018 please disregard this portion of the message.

For those members which haven’t paid your annual dues, they were due on Oct. 1.

As per the Bylaws of the Bear Lake Rod & Gun Club Inc. Article 1 Section B.:

“The annual dues shall be Twenty-Five dollars ($25.00) or adjusted at the October meeting by majority vote. All dues are payable in advance at the first meeting in October. Any member who is more than thirty days (30) delinquent in payment of the annual dues shall be notified by either phone call or by e-mail. Your privileges will be suspended after 30 days delinquent. If a members dues are unpaid at the conclusion of the December meeting a letter will be sent. If dues are not paid by the conclusion of the January meeting the member will be removed from the roll of members.’

Please submit your annual dues.

The next monthly meeting will be held Sunday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. Good luck hunting, be certain to wear your safety harness AT ALL TIMES when your feet are off the ground.
