CCHA Open A League

Coughlans 5, BJ’s 3

Andy Harrington scored twice for Coughlans, while his teammates Taylor Mattoon, Dustin Malkowski and Mark Zaffalon also picked up goals. Malkowski and Zaffalon each had two assists, while Mattoon recorded one assist.

Tyler Gustafson had two of the BJ’s goals, with Ron Friend netting the other. Brian McCoy, Friend and Ryan Pogorzelski all had assists.

CCHA C League

Kosciuszko Club 1, Wicked Glen 1

Frank Leonard picked up the Kosciuszko goal, assisted by Jim Wackowski. Eric Williams scored for Wicked Glen, with Bobby Brown recording an assist.

Heenans 7, Lakeview Shock 1

Steve Szcrypek, Kevin Smith and Jeff Jamieson each had two goals for Heenans, with Jeff Eggleston also scoring for the team. Smith, Jeff Huyck and Bob Traska all picked up two assists, while Tim Thexton and Jamieson had one helper each.

Matt Lazarony had Lakeview Shock’s lone goal, assisted by Tony Privitera.

Beaver Club 3, Coughlans 3

Chris Lyseth, Dave Newman and Chris Mackrell all scored for Beaver Club, with Ed Paluch, Greg Krauza and Tim Kachelmeyer each tallying assists.

Matt Wisiewski netted two goals for Coughlans, and Marc Smith scored the team’s other goal. Assists went to Mark Weimer and Dan Walawender.


Fredonia High baseball program to host clinics

The Fredonia High School baseball program will be hosting two clinics highlighting fundamental skills on Saturday, March 17 at Fredonia High School. The first session (8 a.m.-11 a.m.) is for children age 5-8. The second session (noon-3 p.m.) is for children age 9-12.

Instruction will be provided by Fredonia High School players and coaches and will include hitting, throwing, infield and outfield defense, pitching, and base running. Catching instruction is also available. The clinic will be held indoors and will utilize three gyms, a batting cage and indoor pitching mounds. Participants are asked to wear sneakers and bring their own glove.

The cost of the clinic is $20. Each additional child, from the same family, will receive a $5 discount. All participants will receive a T-shirt. Walk-ins are welcome.

Hoops tournament planned at Lake Shore H.S.

The Lake Shore High School Academy of Business and Finance will be hosting its annual 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on March 10. The double elimination tournament will be held from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. in Lake Shore High School, 959 Beach Road, Angola.

Registration fees are $120 for 4 person adult teams, $80 for 4 person high school teams and $50 for 4 person youth teams. The registration fee includes an event jersey for each player. Brackets include Open Men and Women, High School Boys, High School Girls and Youth Boys and Girls (9-12 and 13-15). Register online at

The academy will also be hosting a chicken barbecue at the event — cost is $10 per meal. Meals may be prepurchased on the district’s website using the link above. Basket drawings will also be held.

Dunkirk Little League’s final registration Sunday

The Dunkirk Little League will hold its last registration on Sunday, March 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the American Legion, 211 Central Ave. All kids ages 4-16 can sign up. Please call Gary Haase at 679-6929 with questions.
