Wednesday Travel League

The league got an early start to the 2018 season with its opening event Wednesday, February 28th, at Cable Hollow Golf Course in Russell, PA. Mild temperatures and dry conditions led to the league’s first-ever February event, just a day before Thursday’s snowstorm hit. The league has now held official events in all 12 months.

2018 marks the 40th season of the Travel League. Last season’s overall Points Winner, Mike Wolfe, hit the ceremonial first tee-shot. Ed Tofil shot the low round of 80, his 66th career tour victory, most all-time. Chad Gollnitz was second with 83 and Ron Rys was third with 84. Tofil led the front nine with 38 while Gollnitz led the back nine with 39. Danny Kubera won the B Flight. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Jack Hood.

Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight-Tofil (Nos.1,2&7), Bob Thompson (No.8), Gary Haase (Nos.9&14), and Gollnitz (No.16); B Flight-Wolfe (Nos.1,5&8), Pat Weaver (No.4), Kubera (No.16), and Lenny Leszkowicz (No.17). Closest to the pin were Tofil (No.2) and Haase (Nos.5&17).

Top point winners were Tofil (29), Haase (25), and Leszkowicz (14).
