Fredonia High baseball program plans clinics

The Fredonia High School baseball program will be hosting two clinics highlighting fundamental skills on Saturday, March 17 at Fredonia High School. The first session (8 a.m.-11 a.m.) is for children age 5-8. The second session (noon-3 p.m.) is for children age 9-12.

Instruction will be provided by Fredonia High School players and coaches and will include hitting, throwing, infield and outfield defense, pitching, and base running. Catching instruction is also available. The clinic will be held indoors and will utilize three gyms, a batting cage and indoor pitching mounds. Participants are asked to wear sneakers and bring their own glove.

The cost of the clinic is $20. Each additional child, from the same family, will receive a $5 discount. All participants will receive a t-shirt. Walk-ins are welcome.

Cattaraugus Co. Sports Hall of Fame Banquet set

The 16th Annual Cattaraugus County Sports Hall of Fame Banquet will be held on Saturday, April 7 at the Little Valley Legion beginning at 6 p.m.

This year’s inductees include: Mike Wilber (Allegany-Limestone), Todd Conley (Randolph), Steve Brundage (Salamanca), Chuck Struble (Hinsdale), Jana Landahl (Pioneer), James Hebdon (West Valley), Dave Waugh (Portville, posthumously), Dick Stitzel (Gowanda), Bob Ring (Olean), Harley Butler (Franklinville), Tim Miller (Cattaraugus-Little Valley), Joseph Delity (Ellicottville, posthumously), Adam Delity (Ellicottville) and Wally Holland (Ellicottville).

Tickets for the event are $25. All tickets must be reserved by calling Mark Benton at 532-4053 or email hidibenton@aol.com. The deadline for reservations is March 30.

Frewsburg hoops tourney to benefit youth center

A 3-on-3 Charity Basketball Invitational to benefit the Relief Zone Community Youth Center will be held Sunday, April 15 at Frewsburg Central School, 26 Institute St., Frewsburg. There will be two different age brackets: fifth and sixth grades, and seventh and eighth grades. There will be a boys division and a girls division. Payment and registration must be received by April 6. Early registration per team is $80 by April 1; registration will cost $100 after that date. High school seniors’ hoops All-Star Games set

The Chautauqua County Senior All Star Basketball Games will be held at Fredonia High School on March 21. The girls game will begin at 6 p.m. and the boys at 8 p.m. Both games will feature a 3-point shootout for underclassmen at halftime of each game.

Lady Marauders softball benefit March 25

There will be a Dunkirk High School girls softball benefit with Weidner’s chicken barbecue on Sunday, March 25 from noon to 3 p.m. at the First Ward Falcons Club, 341 Lakeshore Drive E., Dunkirk. The cost is $10 per dinner. Tickets are available at Big Rick’s One Stop, 327 Lake Shore Drive E., Dunkirk.
