Vineyards Golf Course
The new Monday Night Ladies League began at the Vineyards in June. The results from Rounds 1 through 7 include:
— Round 1: Low Gross score to Diane Enser with a 48, Total Team Low Gross of 101 to Vicki Westling/Viki Clark
— Round 2: Low Gross (44) and Low Net (26) to Beth Rich with Team Low Net of 53 to Rich/Barb VanDette
— Round 3: Low Gross (44) and Low Net (25) to Charity Mucha with Team Low Net of 62 to Mucha/Carroll Nalepa
— Round 4: Low Gross (45) to Amy Edgerton and Low Net (33) to Barb VanDette with Team Low Net to Enser/Sue Gotowka (68)
— Round 5: Low Gross (43) and Low Net (28) to Sue Cave while Low Team Net score was tied with 65 to Rich/VanDette and Enser/Gotowka
— Round 6: Low Gross Score (44) to Viki Clark; Low Net score a tie with 33 to Jan Stokes and Cave; and the low Team Net score of 67 was played by Carol Pietrkiewicz and Stokes
— Round 7: Low Gross went to V. Clark with a 44 while Low Net went to Mucha with 32, low Team Net went to Bina Todd and Darlene Kawski with a 73.
Next week there will be a Fun Night hosted by Bina Loftus and Darlene Kawski.
Gowanda’s Gateway Park to host three events
The “new” Gateway Park in Gowanda will host a girls 16 and Under fast pitch tournament on Saturday. The first game begins at 9:30 a.m. There is still room for one team. The entry fee is $50 per team.
On Sunday, the Gowanda American Legion Post #409 will sponsor a youth football camp for athletes ages 7-13 from noon to 4 p.m.. There is no cost to participate in this camp and no residency requirement but only five openings are still available.
Following the football camp, the second annual Gowanda Men’s Slow Pitch Softball League (1974-1996) old-timers’ game will take place. Batting practice begins at 6 p.m., followed by a picnic.

Inferno Fastpitch tryouts planned in August
New York Inferno Fastpitch tryouts will be held at Garnet Park, 66 Garnet Road, Amherst. In case of rain on any of the following days, tryouts will be held at New Era Park, 3950 Broadway, Depew.
The tryout schedule is as follows:
— Monday, Aug. 6 at 5:30 p.m.: 14U (DOB 2004-2005); and 16U (DOB 2002-2003).
— Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 5:30 p.m.: 10U (DOB 2008-2009); 12U (DOB 2006-2007); and 18U (DOB 2000-2001).
— Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 5:30 p.m.: 14U (DOB 2004-2005); and 16U (DOB 2002-2003).
— Thursday, Aug. 9 at 5:30 p.m.: 10U (DOB 2008-2009); 12U (DOB 2006-2007); and 18U (DOB 2000-2001).
— Friday, Aug. 10 at 5:30 p.m.: 14U (DOB 2004-2005); and 16U (DOB 2002-2003).
— Saturday, Aug. 11 at 8:30 a.m.: 10U (DOB 2008-2009) and 12U (DOB 2006-2007); 10 a.m.: 14U (DOB 2004-2005); noon: 16U (DOB 2002-2003) and 18U (DOB 2000-2001).
— Sunday, Aug. 12 at 8:30 a.m.: 10U (DOB 2008-2009) and 12U (DOB 2006-2007); 10 a.m.: 14U (DOB 2004-2005); noon: 16U (DOB 2002-2003) and 18U (DOB 2000-2001).

Final Gary Tripp golf tourney set for Aug. 25
The Tenth and Final Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament (GTMGT) plans are progressing and on the First Tee. The 2018 tournament is set for Aug. 25 at the Vineyards golf courses in Fredonia. Registration starts at 9 a.m. The shotgun start is at 10 a.m.
The registration fee of $65 per golfer includes food on the course and dinner at the Kosciuszko Club and a golfer’s gift. The deadline to sign up is Aug. 6. Contact Katie or Pat at 366-1044. Extra foursome forms and sponsor forms will be available at the K Club.
Monies raised from past tournaments have been used to establish an annual Gary Tripp Colorectal Cancer Research fund at Roswell Park, an annual GTMGT Dunkirk High School Scholarship and an annual donation to the GTMGT SUNY Fredonia Scholarship.
