Wednesday Travel League

The league made its fourth annual trip to Reserve Run in Poland, Ohio. For the third straight week, Robert Calph had or shared the low score. He posted a 75, a personal best in league play. Ed Tofil was second with 77 and Al Etzel was third with 79. 85-year-old Pete Gawron finished fourth, shooting below his age again with 81. Etzel led the front nine with 38 and Calph led the back nine with a 1-under par 35. Bill Aldrich was the B Flight Champion. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Jack Hood.

Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight — Gawron (No. 4), Calph (Nos. 10, 12), Tofil (No. 13), and Mike Wolfe(No. 14); B Flight — Ken Kaus (No. 1), Lenny Leszkowicz (Nos. 6, 13), Joe Bifaro (No. 12), and Aldrich (No. 15). Closest to the pin were Dave Franklin (No. 2), Gawron (No. 4), John Waterman (No. 11), Etzel (No. 15), and Tom Destro (No. 17).

Signups due today for Gary Tripp golf tourney

The Tenth and Final Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament (GTMGT) plans are progressing and on the First Tee. The 2018 tournament is set for Aug. 25 at the Vineyards golf courses in Fredonia. Registration starts at 9 a.m. The shotgun start is at 10 a.m.

The registration fee of $65 per golfer includes food on the course and dinner at the Kosciuszko Club and a golfer’s gift. The deadline to sign up is today. Contact Katie or Pat at 366-1044. Extra foursome forms and sponsor forms will be available at the K Club.

Monies raised from past tournaments have been used to establish an annual Gary Tripp Colorectal Cancer Research fund at Roswell Park, an annual GTMGT Dunkirk High School Scholarship and an annual donation to the GTMGT SUNY Fredonia Scholarship.

Parent/Athlete Sports Meeting to be held at Forestville on Tuesday, Aug. 7th

All Forestville Central School student-athletes interested in participating in the modified, junior varsity, or varsity athletic programs being offered (including the combination sport teams with Silver Creek/others) during the 2018-2019 school year should attend the mandatory athletic code/risk video presentation on Tuesday, August 7 at 6 p.m. in the High School auditorium. Parent or legal guardian must accompany all athletes.

The Athletic Handbook/Code will be discussed and all required athletic participation forms will be available for completion during the presentation. Athletes who attend and complete the required forms will be eligible for the entire 2018-2019 school year. Video/Code paperwork must be on file prior to the start of participation in any/all programs.

Coaches will also be on hand to offer additional information specific to their programs. If you cannot attend the meeting, you must contact FCS at arrange a time to receive the necessary paperwork.

Sunset Bay Experience set for Aug. 18

IRVING — On Saturday, Aug. 18, multiple events will take place as part of the Sunset Bay Experience.

A 5k run and walk will start at 9:30 a.m., with registration at 8 a.m. The cost is $25 the day of registration, with a student rate of $10.

After the 5k run/walk, guests are invited to enjoy a craft show, a live band, and food and drink specials. Several raffles will also take place during the event.

All proceeds will benefit the Sunset Bay Volunteer Fire Company.
