Vineyards Monday Night Ladies League (Aug. 6) — The ladies played Round 8 of the season with the lowest net score and lowest gross score going to Charity Mucha with a 32 and 42, respectfully. Lowest net team score went to Mucha/Nalepa with a 67. Sue Cave shot the only birdie for the night on Hole 4. Round 9 saw Vicki Westling take the lowest net and lowest gross scores for the night with a 35 and 43. Westling also had the lone birdie on Hole 7. The low net team score went to Pietrkiewicz and Stokes. Round 10 play saw low net score go to Beth Rich with 34. Lowest gross score was had by Charity Mucha with a 42. Beth Rich had birdies on Holes 3 and 4. Bina Loftus also had a birdie for the evening on Hole 3. Lowest net team score went to Nalepa/ Mucha with a 74. Next week will be a break in league scoring for a fun night hosted by Beth Rich and Barb Vandette.

Blue Devils now hiring men’s basketball assistant coach

Fredonia State is currently accepting applications for a part-time men’s basketball assistant coach.

The assistant coach will report directly to the head coach and assist in all aspects of the program, including coaching, scheduling, recruiting, budgeting, fundraising, film breakdown and travel arrangements.

Qualified candidates are required to have a bachelor’s degree and have collegiate playing experience, and must be willing and able to travel and work a flexible schedule; demonstrate a commitment to diversity and the needs of a diverse faculty, staff, students and university; and work in collaboration with colleagues for program growth and enhancement.

Lucky Lanes Junior Bowling meeting Monday

Lucky Lanes Junior Bowling will hold an organizational meeting on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Lucky Lanes. The agenda will consist of discussion of league rules, season schedule, registration, USBC news, coaching, tournaments, scholarships and any new topics. Fredonia 10u travel softball tryouts on Friday

A new Fredonia area 10u travel softball team (team name is pending) will hold a tryout session for interested softball players who will be 10 years of age or younger as of Jan. 1, 2019. The season will take place next spring/summer. The tryout will be at 6 p.m. on Friday at the Fredonia Little League softball field. Final Tripp golf tournament set for Saturday

The Tenth and Final Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament (GTMGT) plans are progressing and on the First Tee. The 2018 tournament is set for Saturday at the Vineyards golf courses in Fredonia. Registration starts at 9 a.m. The shotgun start is at 10 a.m.

The registration fee of $65 per golfer includes food on the course and dinner at the Kosciuszko Club and a golfer’s gift. Contact Katie or Pat at 366-1044. Extra foursome forms and sponsor forms will be available at the K Club.

Monies raised from past tournaments have been used to establish an annual Gary Tripp Colorectal Cancer Research fund at Roswell Park, an annual GTMGT Dunkirk High School Scholarship and an annual donation to the GTMGT SUNY Fredonia Scholarship.

SUNY Fredonia kids’ hockey camp Aug. 27-30

The SUNY Fredonia Hockey Camp for boys and girls ages 5-12 will be held Aug. 27-30. It runs from Monday through Thursday from 10 to 11:15 a.m. in the Steele Hall Ice Arena.
