CLCS advances to title game of Ellicottville tourney with 77-48 win

ELLICOTTVILLE — Devin Pope had 29 points and four steals Saturday as Chautauqua Lake (2-0) won its opening game of the Ellicottville Tip-Off Tournament, 77-48, over Frewsburg (1-1).

The Thunderbirds jumped out to a commanding 29-6 lead after the first quarter, before taking a 48-16 lead into the break. Frewsburg then outscored Chautauqua Lake, 32-29, in the second half.

Aaron Swan had 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals in the win while Kyler Majka chipped in 11 points and four assists of his own. For the Bears, Cordell O’Brien had a team-high 19 points while Tim Conlon chipped in 10 points.

The Thunderbirds will face host Ellicottville in the championship game Monday night.
