CLWP goes 3-2 at Cheektowaga Duals

CHEEKTOWAGA — The Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama wrestling team finished 3-2 at the Cheektowaga Duals on Saturday afternoon, as it defeated Canisius, 56-15, Lackawanna, 84-6, and St. Joe’s, 40-37.

Austin Bourgeois, wrestling at 126 pounds, picked up five wins via pin, as he took down Canisius’ Barry Colby in 38 seconds, Lackawanna’s Khawlan Abdalla in 1:00, Niagara-Wheatfield’s Kyle Jungier in 1:45, St. Joe’s Ben Parish in 57 seconds and Webster-Schroeder’s Preston Yengo in 2:38.

Meanwhile, wrestling at 106, Brendon Rowe won 1-0 over Canisius’ Josh Kracker, 7-2 over Niagara-Wheatfield’s Rhylee Jung and St. Joe’s Samuel Baker, 5-1. He also pinned Lackawanna’s Ahmed Daifallen in 1:42.

Derek Ecklund, wrestling at 138 and 145 took down Canisius’ Jacob Perez in 57 seconds, Lackawanna’s Ali Mohamed in 1:11 and Webster-Schroeder’s Jack Weston in 2:15. He also won a 15-8 decision over St. Joe’s Michael DiPasquale.

Elsewhere, Bryce Rowe, who competed at 152 and 160, defeated St. Joe’s Caleb Long, 4-1, while earning pins of Canisius’ David Constatine (3:06), Lackawanna’s Raad Altalas (5:08) and Niagara-Wheatfield’s Noah Mixon (1:34).

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama’s losses came to Webster-Schroeder (68-18) and Niagara-Wheatfield (46-33).
