Cybart sisters lead Lady Billies to victory

MAYVILLE — Hannah and Caitlyn Cybart combined for 33 points as Fredonia got the better of Chautauqua Lake, 54-34, in CCAA West 1 play.

“Hannah and Caitlyn did a great job leading the team in offense,” Fredonia coach Carol Zirkle said. “I was real pleased with our effort. I thought we did a much better job executing the offense. We had great team work and a lot of good ball movement.”

Caitlyn Cybart scored 19 points while Hannah Cybart had 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Gracie Morrison grabbed 16 rebounds as the Hillbillies (8-4, 5-1) won the battle on the boards, 40-22. ”

Gracie had her best game of the year,” Zirkle said. “I am just pleased with the intensity and pleased with the defensive job we did.”

Katelyn Fardink led Chautauqua Lake (5-6, 4-2) with 12 points while Jesse Zenns had eight rebounds and three assists. Taylor Phelps picked up three steals in defeat. Fredonia travels to Maple Grove on Friday.

SHERMAN 55, CASSADAGA VALLEY 26

SINCLAIRVILLE — Zoey Charette had a game-high 17 points while adding seven rebounds, three steals and three assists Wednesday night, as Sherman (6-6, 2-3) cruised to a 55-26 win over Cassadaga Valley (4-9, 0-3) during CCAA West 2 girls basketball action at Cassadaga Valley High School.

The Lady Wildcats jumped out to a 16-3 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, as they led 24-11 at halftime and 43-17 after three quarters. Also for Sherman, Carrie Sands had nine points, seven rebounds and six assists, Jessica Cady had 10 points and Hannah Murdock hauled in a game-high eight rebounds in the win. For the Lady Cougars, Jewelee Schauman had a team-high 11 points while Paige Hitchcock had five points and a team-high seven rebounds. Amber Morrison chipped in six points in the loss.
