Noah Sobilo and the Dunkirk Marauders (8-5, 3-1) got off to a blazing start from behind the arc, which led to a lopsided 107-30 victory over the Falconer Golden Falcons Thursday in CCAA West II boys basketball played at Dunkirk High School.

Sobilo single-handedly outscored Falconer with 33 points, including 10 3-pointers.

“Noah came out very hot; he had four 3’s in the first quarter,” Dunkirk coach Jack O’Brien said.

“He got so excited and we could tell he was tired, so we took him out for a bit. We told him the excitement would tire him out. Then he went back in and had a couple rim out in the second quarter.

“At halftime, we knew he had a shot at doing something special, but they keyed in on him in the second half so shots were hard to come by. Eventually, he got some more open looks, made them and then he banked one in. He had another go off the shot clock and in that didn’t count, so I guess it was his day.”

Dunkirk led 32-4 after the first quarter and 58-10 at halftime. The hot shooting continued in the second half despite Dunkirk attempting to take the foot off the petal.

Sobilo led all scorers with 33 points while Jarrett Wakiowski added 12 points and Darnell Butts finished with 11 points. Tyrese Kristan-Johnson pulled down 14 rebounds in the win with Evon Hernandez adding four assists.

Dunkirk is back in action on Monday in Olean.
