Stokes, Brown finish second at Buffalo State

BUFFALO — The Fredonia High School indoor track and field team competed at Buffalo State Saturday afternoon, with Claire Stokes and Emily Brown turning in second-place performances for the Lady Hillbillies while Josh Johnson was the top-performing member of the boys’ team, as he came in third in the 1,600-meter event.
Stokes was second in the high jump with her height of 4-feet, 10-inches while Brown was second in the 1,500 in a time of 5:19. Johnson took third in the 1,600 in 5:02.
Elsewhere, in the boys events, Kevin Redfield was fifth in the long jump with his leap of 17-1, Jacob Green was seventh in the high jump (4-10) and the 4×800 relay team of Alex Patterson, Diego Rey, Redfield and Johnson was fourth in 10:00.
Meanwhile, in the girls events, Lydia Lanski was third in the high jump (4-8) and fourth in the 55 hurdles (9.5 seconds), Mindy Wagg was sixth in the 55 hurdles (10.03), Sydney Swan was seventh in the 600 (1:52), Mia Gullo was sixth in the high jump (4-4) and the 4×400 relay team took fifth in a time of 4:47. Comprising the team were Brown, Lanski, Sofia Russo and Fotini Landis.
Fredonia’s is back in action next Saturday at Houghton College for the 9th and 10th Grade Championships.
