Special to the OBSERVER

This year’s Fredonia hockey “Pink The Rink” celebration is slated for Saturday with pre-sale of tickets starting Wednesday in the main athletics office inside Dods Hall.

Pre-sales are scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both Wednesday and Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon on Friday for the 7 p.m. Saturday game against Post University.

Any tickets not sold during the week will be available at the Steele Hall box office beginning at 6 p.m. prior to Saturday’s game.

Prices are $7 for all adults, $3 for children ages 17-and-under and $2 for Fredonia students who show a valid college identification card. All sales are cash only and Blue Devil Booster Club passes will not be honored at Saturday’s game.

This is the 10th year the Blue Devils will wear pink jerseys — purchased by groups and indivduals to honor cancer survivors — and the 11th year donations were taken for the American Cancer Society of Western New York. The event has raised $67,529.16 the past nine years (2007 dollar figures are not available) through the sales of the jerseys and other items.

In addition to the player jerseys, the four game-worn referee shirts will be auctioned Saturday with the proceeds added to the total donation.

Last year’s event raised $7,461.

People wishing to make a donation are asked to e-mail Fredonia Head Coach Jeff Meredith at meredith@fredonia.edu.
