The Dunkirk High Schools’ girls 4x400 relay team, who also compete under the name Dunkirk Time Machine Track Club, qualified for the New Balance Nationals on Sunday with a blistering time of 3:58.51 at the Spire Scholastic Showcase in Geneva, Ohio. The New Balance meet will be held March 10-12 in New York City, and is the premiere high school National indoor meet in the country. Their time unofficially shattered the existing Section VI girls 4x400 record of 4:04.11 by more than six seconds, but it cannot count because they were not representing Dunkirk High School and the Spire meet was not officially sanctioned by the NYSPHAA state governing body. Their 3:58.51 performance however ranks them as fourth in New York State on the Mile Split/NY statewide ranking web site. Pictured from left are Emilee Hanlon, Jericha Petrella, Jaylah Cossins and Emma Seiders. Cossins and Seiders attend Silver Creek Central School.
