2017 baseball showcase to be held April 28, 29
On April 28 and 29, Falconer Central School and the Chautauqua County Baseball Umpires’ Association will team up to sponsor the annual High School Baseball Showcase with a slate of six High School baseball games, featuring twelve teams from Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties scheduled to be played at Russell E. Diethrick Park in Jamestown.
This is not a tournament, but is a Baseball Weekend, played to give local teams a chance to play on a Professional Field in a Professional Stadium.
The schedule for this year’s contests is as follows:
Friday, April 28
4:30 -Cassadaga Valley @ Panama (league)
7:30 – Falconer @ Southwestern (league)
Saturday, April 29
10:00 – Brocton vs. Randolph (non-league)
1:00 – Pine Valley @ Clymer (non-league)
4:00 – Maple Grove @ Chautauqua Lake (league)
7:00 – Sherman @ Westfield (league)
There is a gate fee of $2.00 for adults, and $1.00 for students (K-12) and Senior Citizens to help offset some of the costs of running the Showcase, to help Falconer High School Baseball and Softball, and to add to the Chautauqua County Baseball Umpires’ Association Baseball Scholarship Fund which was established in 2008, and where the first scholarships were awarded in 2009. The umpires will be awarding another baseball scholarship at the end of the 2017 High School Baseball season to a young player who will be continuing their baseball career in college.
