Westfield drops another boys tennis match, 3-2
WESTFIELD — Westfield (0-3) dropped its third 3-2 decision Tuesday, as Maple Grove (2-0) took care of the Wolverines in the second singles, third singles and first doubles matches to pull off the CCAA Division 2 win.
“We’ve been close in every match,” Westfield head coach Matt Eggleston said. “We’ve had a lot of three-setters, but we’ve just come up short. It was a beautiful day though. The best day of the year so far.”
After Josh Kitchen took care of Chase Boardman in first singles, 7-6, 6-2, the Wolverines fell in second singles, where Reid Wight topped Marilyn Amborski, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, before Ben Cresanti took down Jason Almeter in third singles, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. Meanwhile, in first doubles, Wyatt Chriest and Campbel Heword beat Grace Bodenmiller and Isaac Caballero, 6-0, 6-3. The Wolverines to the second doubles match 4-6, 7-6, 6-1, as Olivia Clamp and Shawn Horr defeated Keashawn Smith and Lawton Tranum.
