Dunkirk, Fredonia split track and field victories

Dunkirk and Fredonia split the rivalry on the track with the Fredonia girls and Dunkirk boys taking home victories.

Fredonia girls won with a score of 92-41 and were led by many multiple top 3 finishers. The team of Emily Brown, Ana Buchanan, Sydney Swan, and Clair Stokes took home the victory in the 4×800 relay(10:40.8).

Fredonia then carried on by going one-two in the 100 meter hurdles with Mindy Waag and Lydia Lanski running 17.0 and 17.3 respectively.

Fredonia then went one-two in the 100 dash as well with Laurel Erick and Diedra Osula going 12.4 and 12.9.

Emily Brown came out in the 1500 running a 5:18 to win.

Fredonia’s 4×1 also won in 52.8 seconds, the team being comprised of Georgie Gens, Fotini Landis, Osula, and Erick.

Dunkirk then came out in the 400 with Emilee Hanlon and Jericha Petrella going one-two in 1:01 for both of them.

Then Lydia Lanski struck again in the 400 hurdles winning with a time of 1:13.6.

In the open 800, Sydney Swan ran a 2:35.4 to win.

Hanlon came back in the 200 in 26.3 seconds to beat Osula who ran a 26.6.

In the 3000 it was Brown again bringing home the victory in 11:59.1.

Fredonia’s 4×4 then sealed the night on the track with a victory in a time of 4:22.1.

The girls field was pretty similar with Fredonia sweeping triple jump, shotput, and discus, and also taking first in pole vault.

Wagg won the pole vault with a jump of 6 feet. Lauren Kluck was the double winner in shot and disc throwing shot 29 feet and disc 76-feet-4 inches.

Gens won the triple jump with a leap of 29-feet-1 inch. Hanlon, Rivera, and Michalski helped to get a few points in the field with Hanlon going 5-feet-3 inches for the victory in the high jump, and Rivera jumping 14-feet-9.5 inches for first in the long jump.

“Fredonia has a very strong girls team, and they came out hard,” said Dunkirk coach Adam Woelfle. “They have depth all around and I give them a lot of credit. They worked hard to get where they are.”

Silver Creek 96, Salamanca 36

SILVER CREEK — The Silver Creek Lady Black Knights defeated Salamanca 96-36 Tuesday in a track and field meet.

The triple winner on the day for Silver Creek was Emma Seiders who won the 100 meter dash (12.9 seconds), 200 (26.6) and 400 (1:00.3).

Jaylah Cossin and Krystel Schwab were double winners for Silver Creek.

Cossin took the 1500 (5:16) and the 3000 (12:46); Schwab won the 400 hurdles and the 110 hurdles (18 seconds).

Silver Creek 76, Salamanca 55

SILVER CREEK — The Silver Creek Black Knights picked up a 76-55 victory over the Salamanca Warriors Tuesday in high school track and field action.

Macadam Gadewoltz led the way for the Black Knights, winning three events on the day.

Gadewoltz won the 110-meter hurdles, 400 hurdles and and the long jump.

His winning time in the 110 hurdles was 18.3 seconds. A time of 102.6 won the 400 hurdles and a leap of 18-feet-5 inches took home the long jump.

Dom Jamison won the 1,600 (5:19.9) and the 800 (2:14.3).

Salamanca’s Calvin Williams won the 100 (11.7) and the 200 (23.9).

Southwestern 126.5,

Gowanda 14.5

LAKEWOOD — Southwestern dominated 126.5-14.5 in their track and field meet against Gowanda on Tuesday.

Jake Thorp was a triple winner for the Trojans taking the 110 meter hurdles (18.1 seconds), the 400 hurdles (1:03) and the 200 (23.8).

Double winners for Southwestern were Eddie Scroxton, Jared Yaggie and Lake Sivak. Scroxton took the 800 (2:14) and 1600 (4:53), Yaggie won the 400 (53.4 seconds) and 100 (11.5), while Sivak took the long jump (19-feet-1 inch) and triple jump (40-feet-6 inches).

Southwestern now improves to 5-0 overall, and 3-0 in the league.
