MAYVILLE – ERA Team VP Real Estate & Vacation Rentals will host the eighth annual Agents of Hope scramble golf tournament on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the Chautauqua Golf Club. All proceeds raised during this four-person scramble tournament will benefit both the ALS Association and the ALS Division of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Both non-profit organizations help in the fight against Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Since the tournament’s conception in 2010, ERA Team VP with the help of the community, has raised over $80,000 for the fight against ALS. ERA Team VP, is hoping to break the $100,000 mark in its 8th anniversary. The money raised from this tournament will help in the research for finding treatments and a cure as well as providing patient care and caregiver support. ALS is a disease of the motor neurons, the nerve cells that control voluntary muscle movement. Approximately 20,000 Americans are battling the disease at any given time. The average life expectancy from diagnosis is two to five years.

“The support we receive from the community every year is astounding and essential. It really illustrates to the local families battling this debilitating disease that they are not alone in this fight,” said ERA Team VP’s Chautauqua County Branch Leader and Head Tournament Chairperson, Hanna Soffel Briggs. “Last year this fun and exciting tournament reached its max capacity, so we are encouraging people to register as soon as possible.”

Check-in will begin at 10 a.m. followed by an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start. Lunch will be served on the course along with other refreshments and snacks throughout the day. Throughout the course there will be competitions, games and specialty drinks, like the mojito and John Daly holes. Following the tournament, dinner will be provided by Andriaccio’s Restaurant. Dinner is accompanied by a Chinese auction, announcement of the on-course competition winners and a 50/50 drawing.

The cost is $100 per player ($75 for Chautauqua Golf Club Members), which includes 18-holes of golf, cart, lunch, and dinner. Corporate, individual and team sponsorship opportunities are available. Monetary donations and raffle items are welcomed and appreciated as well.

ERA Team VP’s Agents of Hope Tournament, the MDA-ALS Division and the ALS Association’s, research, services, advocacy and information programs are made possible through the generosity of individuals, sponsors and private contributors.
