Bills trade Watkins to Rams, Darby to Eagles

What a difference a day makes.

Less than 24 hours after their first preseason loss, the Buffalo Bills have traded cornerback Ronald Darby and wide receiver Sammy Watkins. Darby goes to the Eagles for wide receiver Jordan Matthews and a 2018 third-round pick.

Matthews had been Philadelphia’s most productive receiver, averaging 75 catches, 891 receiving yards and six touchdowns in his first three seasons.

Darby started 29 games in his first two seasons in Buffalo. He was a second-round pick (50th overall) in the 2015 draft.

The Bills got cornerback E.J. Gaines from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Watkins and a 2018 sixth-round pick.
