Mayville native finishes his 10th Ironman triathlon

Submitted Photo On July 23, local resident, Mark Wilson, completed his 10th Ironman Triathlon in Lake Placid. An Ironman consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and a 26.2 mile run. Mark had a finishing time of 11:51:17; this was one minute faster than his first Ironman race at the inaugural Ironman Lake Placid 19 years ago. Mark grew up in Mayville and graduated from Westfield High School and SUNY Fredonia. He has been a triathlon coach for the past 20 years, coaching athletes all around the country as well as hosting triathlon camps in beautiful venues around the country. Having just moved back to Randolph last year after 20 years in the Hudson Valley, he has started the Southern Tier Triathlon Club that hosts a Summer Tri-Series held in Cassadaga four times during the summer.
