Blue Devils 17th at Purple Valley Classic

WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. — The Fredonia men’s cross country team finished 17th in a 26-team field at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. on Saturday.
The Devils were led by senior Merlin Joseph Jr. who finished 39th overall in a time of 27:18.6.
Junior Ethan Francis (Dunkirk) was the second Devil, finishing 84th in a time of 28:17.7.
Rounding out the Top 5 for the Devils were freshman Ryan Dunning who was 118th in a time of 29:02.1; junior Zak Kellerman at 124th in 29:08.1; and sophomore Aidan Pollard at 127th in a time of 29.11.5.
The top harrier on the day was Isaac Garcia-Cassani of Geneseo, finishing in a time of 25:50.2. A total of 324 runners competed.
Geneseo was the top team, with an average finish time of 26:37.4.
The team travels to Letchworth State Park next weekend to run in the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by Geneseo.
WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. — The Fredonia women’s cross country team finished 19th in a 26-team field at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. on Saturday.
The Devils were led by junior Brenna Donovan who finished 66th overall in a time of 24:28.1.
Junior Hannah Kurbs was the second Devil, finishing 75th in a time of 24:44.1.
Rounding out the Top 5 for the Devils were junior Kristen Guarino who was 113th in a time of 25:43.0; freshman Sarah Kurbs at 123rd in 26:05.4; and Emily Maguire at 134th in a time of 26.19.6.
The top harrier on the day was Taryn Cordani of Ithaca, finishing in a time of 21:35.5. A total of 286 runners competed.
MIT was the top team, with an average finish time of 22:48.0.
The team travels to Letchworth State Park next weekend to run in the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by Geneseo.
