Dunkirk drops tennis match to Salamanca

Salamanca defeated the Dunkirk Lady Marauders, 4-1, Monday in a girls tennis match on the DHS courts.

The only Dunkirk victory came courtesy of the second doubles team of Zoe Loeb and Hannah Sanchez, winning by a 6-3, 6-1 score.

In first singles, Dunkirk’s Isabella Surma lost to Emily Koniak, 6-1, 7-5. Salamanca’s Ashley Siperek won the second singles contest, defeating Hannah Saye by a 6-1, 6-1 count. McKenzie Rider sent the Lady Marauders’ Gabi Loeb down to defeat in third singles, 7-6, 6-4.

Salamanca’s first doubles team of Haley Pond and Nora Warrior beat Dunkirk’s Whitney Hice and Hannah Osar, 6-3, 7-5.

The Lady Marauders return to the courts immediately, hosting Southwestern today.



MAYVILLE — Maple Grove’s Lady Red Dragons girls tennis team (1-0, 2-0) won at Chautauqua Lake, 4-1, in a Monday afternoon CCAA West match.

The lone winner for the Lady Thunderbirds (1-1, 1-1) was Autumn Shuskie, who defeated Maddie Collins 6-2, 6-1, in first singles.

Elise Swanson topped Corinne Elliot of Chautauqua Lake in second singles, 6-1, 6-2. In third singles, it was Maple Grove’s Jenna Hayes over Emily Bauer, 6-2, 6-0.

The Lady Red Dragons’ first doubles team of Emma Collins and Tabby Boughton brought down Abby Paulus and Logan Walczak, 6-1, 6-4. Kaylee McCall and Ryann Hayes took the second doubles contest over Tiffany Parsons and Elizabeth Marshaus of Chautauqua Lake, 6-3, 6-4.

The Lady Thunderbirds return to action Thursday at Fredonia.
