Fredonia sweeps swim meet at CL

MAYVILLE — The Fredonia girls swim team won all 12 events on its way to a 131-52 victory over the Chautauqua Lake Lady Thunderbirds Tuesday.

Jenna Sherlock was a double winner in individual events for Fredonia, taking the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 28.75 seconds and placing first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:19.61.

Other Fredonia winners included Riley Drummond in the 50-yard freestyle (25.34), Jane Fortna in the 100-yard freestyle (1:03.10), Grace Mroczka in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.45), McKayla Polowy in the 500-yard freestyle (5:45.33), Alexandra Pucci-Schaefer in the diving event, Mackenzie Quinn in the 200-yard freestyle (2:11.02) and Tori Spacc in the 100-yard butterfly (1:12.16).

Fredonia coach Joanne Lotter said Jane Fortna’s twin sister, Julia, finished right behind her in the 100-yard freestyle and qualified for the sectional meet with her time. Each twin was on two winning relay teams, she said.

Alexandra Pucci-Schaefer had her highest diving score ever — and her sister, Isabella, finished second and qualified for sectionals with her score, Lotter added.

Fredonia is back in the pool today for a meet at Eden.
