Lady Black Knights blank Dunkirk, 3-0, in girls soccer

The Silver Creek Lady Black Knights (5-1, 2-0) posted a 3-0 shutout in Dunkirk against the Lady Marauders (2-2-1) in a non-league soccer game.

Kianna Brown netted the first goal of the day just four minutes into the game. She was followed shortly after when Abbey Rice booted in a corner kick in the 16th minute to put Silver Creek up, 3-0. Then in the 33rd minute, Kyle Procknal scored the third and final goal of the game off an assist from Carly Barrett

“We played really solid defensively. Dunkirk has the third leading scorer in Section VI in Emilee Hanlon. We game planned for her and our defense limited her quite a bit,” Silver Creek caoch Kevin Rice said. “My midfield did a great job at stopping their passing before the ball got to her. That was one of the keys that really helped us to get a win. Offensively, we had our chances. We’re still growing in our offense; it’s still early in the year.”

Tessa Douglas finished the game with eight saves to get the Silver Creek shutout.

The Lady Black Knights play their next soccer game on Tuesday at North Collins. Dunkirk plays in Olean on Tuesday.

“Haley played amazing,” Pine Valley coach Kerri Martin said. “She had a really good game.”
