SILVER CREEK — The Silver Creek girls volleyball team found resilience in the second game to secure the sweep over Brocton-Westfield, 25-15, 26-24, 25-21, Tuesday in CCAA North play.

Krystal Schwab led Silver Creek with nine kills and seven aces as Kiara Brenna had six kills, three digs and two services aces and Julia Hill tallied 19 assists.

Brocton-Westfield’s Sophia DeMarco had six kills and two aces while Lindsey Stahlman had six assists, four digs, two aces.

After a strong first game, Silver Creek coach Bridget Case saw her team struggle in a competitive rounds.

“I think we came out really ready to play the first game,” she said. “But the second game, we beat ourselves up with unforced errors. I am proud the team pulled through and became mentally tough for the second and third games to get the win.”

The win brings Silver Creek’s overall and league record to 2-3. Brocton-Westfield drops to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in league play.

The self-inflicted loss of points is something that Case and Silver Creek have been focusing on for the latter half of the season.

“That is something we were working on all year,” Case said. “We had service errors and it put us in the hole. Though, we ralled back to win.”

Silver Creek will host Forestville on Thursday. Brocton-Westfield will host North Collins that day.
