CV volleyball up to 9-0 in CCAA North; Tuesday’s roundup

NORTH COLLINS — The Cassadaga Valley Lady Cougars kept their perfect CCAA North record in girls volleyball with a 25-21, 16-25, 25-19, 25-19 win over the North Collins Lady Eagles Tuesday.

The Lady Cougars (11-1, 9-0) received 13 kills, seven digs and two blocks from senior standout Jenna Caskey.

“Jenna is their team’s main offensive weapon,” North Collins coach Dave Burgstahler said. “She’s a good blocker and hitter and commands a lot of respect with her play, both offensively and defensively.”

Maranda Perez recorded nine kills, seven digs and five blocks for Cassadaga Valley. Savanna Nickerson chipped in with 30 assists for the Lady Cougars.

North Collins (7-5, 6-3) was led by the 17 kills of Morgan Mathis and the 10 kills of Irene Mancuso, with Makenna Williams contributing 20 assists.

The teams will hit the buses for CCAA North league play Thursday. North Collins will go to Forestville, while Cassadaga Valley travels to Gowanda.

BROCTON — Forestville’s Lady Hornets volleyball team swept Brocton-Westfield in CCAA North play Tuesday.

Mackenzie Pratt had six kills and six aces for Forestville (8-5, 7-2). Rachel Goodrich added six kills and two aces, while Rihanna Nasal offered up 28 assists.

For Brocton-Westfield (1-13, 1-9), Jypsi Eidens made five kills, served three aces and had two blocks. Anna Hoebner recorded seven assists for the team.

Gowanda 15 25 25 22 25 Silver Creek 25 22 19 25 19

SILVER CREEK — The Gowanda Lady Panthers (6-4, 6-3) pulled out a five-set victory over the Silver Creek Black Knights (3-6, 3-6) in a CCAA North match Tuesday.

Megan Gominiak led the winners with 10 digs, six aces, five kills and three blocks. Maya Scanlan made seven kills and two blocks and served three aces for Gowanda, while the Lady Panthers’ Summer Allen contributed 22 assists, 19 digs and a kill.

The Black Knights received 22 kills, 15 digs and four aces from Krystal Schwab. Julia Hill dished out 25 assists and made four digs, while Madison Mott turned in 20 digs, for Silver Creek.
