CV beats Fredonia, goes to 13-0

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Cassadaga Valley Lady Cougars volleyball team continued tearing through the CCAA North Tuesday, going to 13-0 in the division with a 25-16, 25-17, 25-12 win over Fredonia.

“Tonight was our Senior Night… these are the girls that have been playing travel ball since they were 14,” Lady Cougars coach Denny Wakelee said. “It will be hard to be lose them next year, but they are a big part of the reason we have the record we have — they’ve been putting in a lot of extra time over the years.”

Appropriately enough, Wakelee listed four seniors when asked who led the Lady Cougars (15-2 overall) statistically on Tuesday. Jenna Caskey picked up six kills and six aces, while Maranda Perez recorded four kills, two blocks and two aces. The Lady Cougars’ Katie Wakelee blasted four aces and made four digs, while Savanna Nickerson had 15 assists and three aces for the team.

The Lady Hillbillies (3-10, 3-10) got 10 digs and two aces from Katie Price, while Anna Valone made four kills, and Gracie Morrison was credited with three kills.

Cassadaga Valley will go for a perfect league season Thursday at Dunkirk. It will be the Lady Marauders’ “Spike Out Cancer” event.
