Forestville defeats SC in volleyball

FORESTVILLE — The Forestville Lady Hornets volleyball team defeated Silver Creek three games to none (25-20, 29-27, 25-8) in a CCAA North match Tuesday night.

The match was tight until the conclusion of the second game. Once Forestville grabbed the second game, Silver Creek was unable to overcome the momentum in the Lady Hornets’ favor.

Brooke Ostrye led the way for Forestville (11-6, 10-3) with 17 kills, seven blocks, three digs, and two aces. Cece Egan added six kills, two blocks, and two digs. Ashlee Bailey had five assists and three digs.

Silver Creek (4-9) was led by Krystel Schwab with seven kills, five digs, and a block. Libby Lawton added six kills, while Julia Hill had 12 assists and five digs.

Next on the schedule, Forestville hosts Fredonia tonight in the Lady Cougars’ eighth annual Spike Out Cancer benefit.

Dunkirk 17 25 25 25 Gowanda 25 13 21 23

GOWANDA — The Gowanda Lady Panthers defeated the Dunkirk Lady Marauders in a CCAA North volleyball match Tuesday.

Summer Allen led Gowanda (8-6, 8-5) with 13 assists, nine aces, eight digs and two kills. Maya Scanlan contributed nine kills, six digs, three aces, a block and an assist, while Megan Gominiak charted six digs, four aces, three kills and a block for the Lady Panthers.

Aaliyah Bass had six kills and five aces for Dunkirk (4-12, 3-10). Her teammate, Alexis Tofil, also had six kills and five aces.

Tuesday’s match was the Lady Panthers’ annual “Pink Out” benefit for the fight against breast cancer.

Broc-West. 19 8 14 North Collins 25 25 25

NORTH COLLINS – The North Collins Lady Eagles swept the Brocton-Westfield Lady bulldogs in CCAA North girls volleyball action Tuesday. The game scores were 25-19, 25-8, 25-14.

The Lady Eagles (11-6 , 9-4) received 10 kills and three aces from Michaela Rice. Makenna Williams came through with 18 assists, while Morgan Mathis made eight kills, for North Collins.

Brocton-Westfield (2-11 in CCAA North) got four kills, four digs and four blocks from Jypsi Eidens. Her teammate, Elise Miller, made eight digs.

North Collins’ next match is at home Friday against Silver Creek. The Lady Bulldogs return to action Thursday at home against Gowanda.
