Gowanda volleyball team tops Fredonia
The Gowanda Lady Panthers swept the Fredonia Lady Hillbillies in CCAA North volleyball action Wednesday by a 25-18, 25-21, 25-10 score.
Gowanda (7-6, 7-5) received 16 assists, three aces, two kills and two digs from Summer Allen. Teammate Olivia Ackley contributed 17 digs, one kill and one ace. Dayna Degenfelder had 10 digs, four aces and a kill and Marleah Stevens added seven digs, four kills, two blocks and an ace for the Lady Panthers.
Katie Price made 19 digs and served an ace for Fredonia (3-11, 3-9). Gracie Morrison had three kills and two blocks while Maggie Mignoli recorded four aces and three digs.
“The first two games, the Fredonia girls were fighting back pretty hard,” Lady Hillbillies coach Amanda Krakowiak said. “Gowanda has some great servers, so we let them get a handful of points on serves. We were able to battle back and get some points… but we always get to this 17ish (point total for Fredonia) area where the other teams finish the game out and we can’t seem to get past that.”
Fredonia is back in action Tuesday at Cassadaga Valley. Gowanda travels to Dunkirk that day for its next match.
