Silver Creek grabs boys soccer win
SOUTH DAYTON — The Silver Creek Black Knights (5-7-2, 4-4-2) ended their CCAA Central boys soccer schedule with a 5-3 win over the Pine Valley Panthers (7-7, 6-4).
The Black Knights’ Bryce Shomper scored the first of his two goals about 12 minutes into the game, and Silver Creek led the rest of the game, taking a 3-2 lead into halftime. Giovanni Pacifici had two goals for the team, and Darren Jiminez also scored. Shomper picked up two assists, as did Phillip Narraway.
The Panthers’ goal scorers were Dawson Chase, Dana Jenkins and Jared Nobles.
“Pine Valley has a talented team and gave a good fight,” Silver Creek coach Mark Bratcher said. He called the win a “nice source of motivation as we move into sectional play.” The Section VI boys soccer playoff seeding meeting is Saturday.
Bratcher wanted to highlight goalie Jeremey Wilcox, who had eight saves.
“He had a big save on a penalty kick late in the game,” the coach said. “He’s taken on a great leadership role. I’m really proud of his efforts.”
Makiah Snyder of Pine Valley made 12 saves in goal.
The Black Knights still have one more regular-season game, a non-league affair Friday at Cassadaga Valley. The Panthers will also conclude their season with a non-league game Friday. They play at Randolph.
